The USS Wyoming Committee Inc. is a not-for-profit 501 (c) 3 organization.

Our GOAL

The Navy has announced plans to extend the life of USS WYOMING by at least another 10 years.   We believe that Wyoming will want to continue demonstrating its support for the crew of the USS WYOMING. Our goal is to generate $50,000 to help fund at least 30 more scholarships and help host at least ten more visits by the crew to Wyoming. Please help continue this effort.

brief history

For the past 20 years, Wyoming has been honored with having an OHIO Class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine bear its name -- the USS WYOMING (SSBN-742).  This submarine, commonly referred to as a “boat” within the Navy, was christened during the tenure of then Defense Secretary Dick Cheney, who was instrumental in assigning her name.

In 1994, Wyoming residents formed a nonprofit, called the USS Wyoming Committee, Inc., to help demonstrate the state’s enduring support to the boat and appreciation for the U.S. Navy.  This continued support has taken the form of college scholarships for ship-affiliated students and Wyoming students, as well as periodic visits of crew members to Wyoming.
